The 7 Grandfathers Teachings

Love, Respect, Bravery, Truth, Honesty, Humility, and Wisdom.

Long ago, a messenger sent to see how the Neshnabék lived discovered that they were spending their lives in a terrible way, which influenced their ideas, decisions, and actions, according to the account. Some exhibited animosity against others, acted in a rude manner, were fearful, lied, and cheated. Others were brimming with pride or embarrassment. The messenger came across a child on his way. The Seven Grandfathers chose this boy to teach him how to live a decent life. Love, Respect, Bravery, Truth, Honesty, Humility, and Wisdom were among the lessons he was taught.

“Each of these teachings must be applied with the rest,” the Seven Grandfathers informed him before they left. Without Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth, Wisdom is impossible to attain. If you only use one of the other teachings, you cannot be honest. To ignore one teaching would be to embrace the polar opposite of what it signifies.” Each of the Seven Grandfathers taught the youngster a principle. It was then up to the child to either forget about them or use them.

Each of us stands in for the child. We must sincerely apply our Seven Grandfathers’ teachings to our own life. We need to put our faith in the Creator. We must never lose sight of the importance of being truthful in our actions, character, and words.*
